Cosmetic Dentistry
Your smile is one of the most powerful things about you. It is how you greet the people you love, how you make a first impression, and how you express confidence in the moments that matter most. If stained, chipped, misaligned, or worn-down teeth have been keeping you from smiling fully, cosmetic dentistry can change that.
At Harmony Dental, Dr. Tamsyn Burkett and Dr. Lauren Ing help patients here in Summerlin achieve the smiles they have always wanted. We understand that thinking about cosmetic dental work can feel overwhelming, especially if you are not sure where to start. That is exactly why we begin every conversation by listening to your smile goals and building a personalized treatment plan around what matters most to you.
What Is Cosmetic Dentistry?
Cosmetic dentistry is a branch of dental care focused on improving the appearance of your mouth, teeth, gums, bite, and smile, including such aesthetics as color, position, shape, size, and alignment. Most cosmetic dentistry procedures are elective, but in many cases, they also provide restorative benefits that protect your long-term oral health.
The key difference between cosmetic and general dentistry is intent. General dentistry focuses on preventing and treating disease. Cosmetic dentistry focuses on helping you look and feel your best. At Harmony Dental, the two often go hand in hand.
Cosmetic Dental Services We Offer
Harmony Dental provides a full range of cosmetic treatments, from simple enhancements to a complete smile makeover. Below is a closer look at each option.
Porcelain Veneers
Dental veneers are thin shells of porcelain or composite resin, custom-made to fit over the front surfaces of your teeth. They are among the most versatile cosmetic treatments available, and for many patients, they are also among the most transformative.
Veneers are an ideal option if your teeth are severely discolored, chipped, cracked, stained, worn down, or slightly misaligned. They can even address minor orthodontic concerns without changing the actual position of your teeth.
The most important benefit of veneers is their natural appearance. Each veneer is crafted to match the shape, size, and shade of your surrounding teeth, so the results blend seamlessly with your smile. They are also durable and resistant to future staining, which means your results stay beautiful for years to come.
Teeth Whitening
Teeth whitening is one of the quickest ways to make a noticeable difference in your smile. Over time, coffee, tea, wine, tobacco, and everyday wear can leave your teeth looking dull or yellowed. Professional whitening reverses that, giving you a brighter, more youthful appearance.
Harmony Dental offers both in-office and at-home whitening options. We typically recommend starting with an in-office treatment so Dr. Burkett or Dr. Ing can monitor your progress and help you safely reach your aesthetic goals. From there, at-home maintenance keeps your results looking fresh.
We offer the KOR Whitening and Opalescence Whitening Systems for at-home care. Both are known for delivering a comfortable, low-sensitivity experience. When combined with in-office treatments, patients often see remarkable results.
Same-Day Crowns with CEREC Technology
Traditional crowns mean multiple visits, temporary restorations, and weeks of waiting. CEREC technology changes that entirely.
At Harmony Dental, our CEREC machine is assisted by computer software specifically designed to map precise images of your mouth. From those images, a custom-made ceramic crown is created right here in our office while you wait. No messy impressions. No temporary crown. No second visit. You walk in with a damaged or worn tooth and walk out with a beautiful, durable same-day restoration, all in a single appointment.
This matters because your time matters. CEREC allows Dr. Burkett and Dr. Ing to restore both the appearance and function of your tooth without disrupting your schedule. The same technology also creates custom inlays, onlays, and veneers, giving you more options for a precise, natural-looking result.
Dental Bonding
Bonding is a conservative cosmetic treatment well-suited for patients who want to address minor smile imperfections without more extensive work. It is one of the more accessible cosmetic options we offer, and for the right candidate, it can make a meaningful difference in how your smile looks and feels. During your consultation, Dr. Burkett or Dr. Ing will evaluate whether bonding is the right approach for your specific concerns and walk you through the procedure.
Clear Aligners: Invisalign and SureSmile®
Straighter teeth are not just about appearance. They are easier to clean, more comfortable to bite with, and better for your long-term oral health. If you have been wanting a straighter smile but the idea of traditional braces does not appeal to you, clear aligners offer a discreet, modern alternative.
Harmony Dental offers both Invisalign and SureSmile®. These clear aligners are custom-made for you from impressions, pictures, and oral scans taken at your dental office. The images are sent to a lab where aligners are created for your unique case. They are virtually invisible, fit directly over your teeth with the help of strategically placed attachments, and shift your teeth horizontally and vertically into their ideal positions.
Aligners are typically changed every two to three weeks, following a customized treatment plan. Dr. Burkett and Dr. Ing will use details from your individual treatment plan and your financial obligations to help you determine which option is best for you.
Smile Makeovers
Sometimes one procedure is all it takes. Other times, the smile you envision requires a thoughtful combination of treatments. That is what a smile makeover is all about.
Each of the cosmetic services listed above can be performed individually or combined into a complete smile makeover. Dr. Burkett and Dr. Ing will evaluate your teeth, gums, and personal goals, then recommend the right combination of procedures that brings your vision to life. The result is a cohesive, natural-looking smile designed specifically for you.
Who Is a Good Candidate for Cosmetic Dentistry?
Most adults with healthy teeth and gums are good candidates for at least one cosmetic treatment. You may be a strong candidate if you have:
• Healthy gums and teeth free from active decay or periodontal disease (these concerns would need to be addressed first)
• Specific smile goals you want to discuss with Dr. Burkett or Dr. Ing
• Realistic expectations about what cosmetic treatments can achieve
• A commitment to oral hygiene to help maintain your results long-term
Not sure if you qualify? That is perfectly okay. During your consultation, we will conduct a thorough evaluation of your oral health and discuss which treatments align with your goals, timeline, and budget. If any underlying dental issues need to be resolved before cosmetic work begins, we will walk you through that process step by step so there are no surprises.

What to Expect During Your Cosmetic Consultation
Your journey starts with a conversation. Here is what your first visit typically looks like:
Step 1: Comprehensive evaluation. We will review your dental and medical history, take any necessary images, and examine your teeth, gums, and bite to understand your current oral health.
Step 2: Discussion of your smile goals. This is your time to share what you like and do not like about your current smile. Bring photos or examples if that helps. There are no wrong answers here.
Step 3: Personalized treatment plan. Based on your evaluation and goals, Dr. Burkett or Dr. Ing will recommend specific treatments, walk you through the process, timeline, and expected outcomes, and answer every question you have.
Step 4: Financial options. Our team will review your insurance coverage and available payment options, including CareCredit financing, so that you can make a confident, informed decision.
Frequently Asked Questions About Cosmetic Dentistry
What is cosmetic dentistry?
Cosmetic dentistry is a category of dental care focused on improving the appearance of your mouth, teeth, gums, bite, and smile, including such aesthetics as color, position, shape, size, and alignment. Most cosmetic dentistry procedures are elective, but in some cases, they also provide restorative benefits that support your oral health.
How long do cosmetic dental results last?
Longevity depends on the specific treatment and how well you care for your teeth afterward. Veneers are known for their durability and stain resistance. CEREC crowns are crafted from high-quality ceramic designed for long-lasting results. Whitening results vary based on diet and habits, but regular at-home maintenance helps preserve brightness. During your consultation, Dr. Burkett or Dr. Ing will give you a clear picture of what to expect for your chosen treatment.
Does insurance cover cosmetic dentistry?
Coverage varies by plan and procedure. Treatments that also serve a restorative function, such as crowns, may be partially covered by insurance. Purely elective procedures, such as whitening, are typically not covered. Our team will help you understand your benefits and explore financing options so cost does not stand in the way of your smile goals.
Will I be comfortable during treatment?
Your comfort is always our priority. Most cosmetic procedures involve minimal discomfort. For treatments that require tooth preparation, local anesthesia keeps you comfortable throughout. Many procedures, such as whitening, require no anesthesia. Dr. Burkett and Dr. Ing will always discuss what to expect before any treatment begins.
How do I know which cosmetic treatment is right for me?
The best way to find out is to schedule a consultation. Dr. Burkett or Dr. Ing will evaluate your oral health, listen to your goals, and recommend the treatment or combination of treatments that will deliver the results you are looking for. Every recommendation is based on your unique situation, not a one-size-fits-all approach.
